Under Armour Curry 4 "More Rings" and "More Dimes"

Heartbreak, fate, and all of the above

What's up sneakerheads? With any pairs of shoes you buy, there's always a story behind them which makes it all worthwhile to you. After watching Steph destroy the Cavs during the 2017 NBA Finals in these kicks, I just HAD TO HAVE them. Any Dubs fan was yearning to have these pairs in their collection. To my dismay, Under Armour was selling BOTH pairs of shoes in a special pack that was next to impossible to get. They put us collectors on a wild goose chase: sending me to a random mall in Union City, wait 2 hours to get a ring to possibly enter a lottery, yada yada yada. It was pretty ridiculous and honestly a huge waste of time. Needless to say I didn't win and was getting so desperate that I tried to buy them at resell ($1000 at the time) but they didn't even have my size! Frustrated, rejected, and just plain over it, I had given up all hope on copping these. Out of nowhere, Under Armour decides to release the "More Rings" (white) and "More Dimes" (black) in separate releases! An ingenious marketing ploy to limit the supply of the champ pack and artificially increase the demand for the pairs was a great move to ensure they didn't have a flop (like they did w/ the Curry 3). I didn't care, I just wanted to cop them and I finally got my hands on them!

The Curry 4 design is a mixture of beauty and functional design. You slip the shoe on your feet like a big sock, w/ the upper internal sleeve molding to your upper ankle. This form factor gives the shoe a very sleek look, along w/ a bold colorway that definitely stands out from other kicks. Of course, you can't go wrong w/ icy bottoms and a touch a gold to give it a classic feel. It's tough to compete against huge brands like Nike and Adidas, but this design will stand the test of time!

"More Rings" = classic.

Gold accents make everything better.

Icy bottoms all day.

The Revenge Series

With the Game 7 loss in the 2016 NBA Finals on his mind the entire season, Steph Curry finally had made it back. Now fully healthy and just swept the previous 3 teams in the playoffs, Curry was ready to take back what was his. In a series of dazzling moves, shots, and clutch play, Steph rose to the occasion w/ the help of Klay, KD, and Dray back to the top of the mountain. The basketball world was in awe as even though KD was tearing up the Cavs in the Finals, Curry was also the Big Dawg on stage too. Averaging 26.8 points, 8 rebounds, 9.4 assists, and 2.2 steals in the series, Steph couldn't be stopped. With his daughter Ryan in his hands, he pranced and danced around the stage before his team was handed the championship trophy. He was finally back on top: through the injury that kept him less than 100% during last year's playoffs, to convincing KD to come play for the Dubs, and to showing the world he is still one of the best players to ever play this game.

CHAMP X2.

Fortunately, I was able to attend Game 2 and Game 5 of the 2017 NBA Finals to witness some of this greatness. I've added the videos I made during those games as a bonus for this post. I hope you all enjoy! Thanks again for visiting!

Nike Zoom KD X "Celebration"

NBA's Most Unguardable Player

What's good fam? It's been about a year since I've posted, but believe me the train don't stop and I've got some heat for y'all! For all you Bay Area fans, I know you'll enjoy this post. Let me present to you the Nike Zoom KD X "Celebration"! Now I wasn't able to cop these at first, but ever since I saw KD hit the game winning three on LeBron in Game 3 of the NBA Finals I had to cop this. After a week and a half after their release, I broke my cardinal rule and for the first time bought shoes through re-sale. If you know me, you know I hate the re-sell game as peeps are just trying to make a quick buck and don't even care about the kicks they buy. Nevertheless, I coughed up the $$$ and got this pair. Absolutely no regrets as these are the cleanest pair and hold an important part in Bay Area sports history.

To be completely honest, this pair isn't exactly the same as the ones KD wore during the NBA Finals (slightly different colorway), but are the closest that any normal consumer can get their hands on. These kicks are super comfortable, w/ a woven sock feel to them and the laces are purely decorative. The flex ankle socklet gives it a nice touch, and the deep blue definitely turns heads when I hit the streets in them. Truly a timeless pair w/ a slight flair to rock w/ anything, but always goes well w/ a Dubs jersey.

Gold foil box makes is a nice touch.

Black dustbag to keep them fresh.

Clear bottoms w/ blue and gold accents.

MVP MVP MVP!

The wrath of the "Slim Reaper"

Kevin Durant has arguably become the most controversial figure in the NBA over the last two years as he departed the OKC Thunder after they blew a 3-1 series lead against the Golden State Warriors in the 2016 NBA playoffs. As everybody knows he joined the Dubs and was deemed a "traitor, snake, cop-out, loser" for making a decision to join them during free agency. Personally, I love that he joined MY team as the culture w/ the Dubs suits his demeanor more, and OKC never seemed like a great place to play w/ Russell Westbrook constantly battling him as the alpha dog. Nevertheless, KD fit into the system perfectly here in the Bay Area, raising his defensive intensity to a new level.

The pressure was squarely on his shoulders to win a ring that year or be considered a bust for joining a new team. In the Finals, he tore through the Cavaliers by averaging 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, and 1.6 blocks during the five game series. Simply unstoppable, KD's shining moment happened when he rose up to hit the game winning three over LeBron in Game 3 of the Finals. A cold-blooded shot, only reserved for the greats of this game, KD rose to the occasion. He was crowned the MVP of the Finals and cemented his legacy in Warriors lore. Only time will tell how many more accolades he will achieve during his stint w/ the Dubs, but I can't wait to see what's next.

Always stay true to the game, don't get caught up in the hype, and don't worry about what other people think. Buy shoes that make you feel good and don't worry about the haters out there, they ain't fresh like us! To more heat and more blessings, bring it on 2018! Another One! *DJ Khaled voice*

Air Jordan XII Retro "OVOs"

The chase is on

What's up my fellow sneakerheads? It's been a good year since I've posted, but trust me I didn't take a day off picking up major heat over the last year. Whew do I have a story to tell you regarding my latest pick-up, the Air Jordan XII Retro "OVOs"!!! Now these shoes are super exclusive, only being sold in physical OVO stores, Nike App drawing, OVO App, a handful of mom n' pop stores, etc. Needless to say the odds were not in my favor, but a true sneakerhead is always up for the chase.

It was 7am, I got my Nike App ready and I hit the enter button to enter the draw. As I patiently wait, I start to think of alternatives as I know this is such a limited run, the chances of me winning the draw is close to zero. I remember hearing the OVO online store was planning on selling them, and so I start refreshing the page (every sneakerhead knows this routine). The OVO store never officially stated when they were going to post, and so I'm sitting there refreshing the page like a zombie in bed LOL. Around 8:15am, I get the FAIL EMAIL from Nike, and so I'm amped to get these shoes now. I randomly remember that OVO has an online app, and so I quickly download that and refresh the page. After a little while I'm on the verge of giving up, but I have a gut feeling they're going to post at 9am. At 9:01am these guys post the shoes and I'm in!!! After a good 15 minutes of back and forth, I finally get my pair! After trying for over 2 hours, I had finally copped the pair of the year. It was so satisfying, and so I wanted to share my pair with y'all. One of the cleanest pairs I've ever copped. The all white shoe design w/ hints of gold accents makes this pair an instant classic. Please enjoy my pics below!

No Nike, I'm not taking the L on this one!

Side profile is everything.

Gold trim is always a good choice.

It's all about the details.

The man behind the brand

As we all know, Drake is one of the hottest and most iconic rappers in the last 10 years. His poppy lyrics, fat beats, and mass appeal has made him one of the most successful rappers in the industry. With all of his studio albums reaching platinum and his song "One Dance" the first to hit 1 billion streams on Apple Music, Drake has established himself as the king of rap. Drake has been mentioning the term OVO in his music since 2006 when he was an unsigned artist. Building this brand from the ground up, Drake would eventually co-found OVO Music w/ Oliver El-Khatib, and long-time producer Noah "40 Shebib in 2012. OVO stands for "October's Very Own", and is currently a clothing line as well. There have been multiple shoe collabs w/ the Jordan brand, most recently the Air Jordan XII Retros that I've featured above. The blending of hip-hop and basketball is nothing new, but OVO is definitely the next step in the evolution of basketball w/ the hip-hop scene!

Thank You

As always, it is a pleasure sharing my collection w/ y'all. I take all of my own pictures of my shoes, and this blog is simply myself sharing my passion w/ all the true sneakerheads out there. I've never paid above retail for any of my pairs, I've always kept true to the game, and most importantly I only buy heat that I know I'll wear. Thanks again and keep on coming back!

w/ much respect,
Kyle
